'Shire Thing #8 - While there are trees EVERYWHERE in New Hampshire, they are all new growth. I knew that it was timber from the colonies that built the amazing navy that made Great Britain a superpower, but I didn't realize that almost all of New England had been clear cut to do so.

On The Writing Front - "Cylon of the Opera" (and I really need a new title for it) will be probably end up being a three part epic. Today I wrote a scene which tied my two chunks together, meaning I have 2/3 of the first part written.

And now I'm starting to doubt the whole thing.

I have really messed with Kara's back story and am changing how she copes with things, playing up the religious side (which I am making up or pulling from the Battlestar Wiki because I've never seen "Caprica").

But what if I've changed her too much?

Starbuck is a kick-ass, take-no-shit, kind of woman, Christine Daae was an immature girl who always had a strong male presence in her life to rely on. Forget apples and oranges, these two are apples and staircase carpet.

On The Baby Front - We've had 3 of the 6 babies so far, with two babies due anytime (our biggest fear is that they'll go at the same time).

Yesterday I watched "School Ties", which got me thinking about how many awesome movies Brendan Fraser has been in, and also other awesome actors who have been in small movies that have little to no fandom.

This made me sad.

Then I thought, there should be a challenge comm where each month an actor is announced and only their smaller movies can be used to fic.

What do you guys think? Would you sign up for something like that?

Old Fandom - West Wing

Toby: "Josh was hit."
Donna: "Hit with what?"

OMG, it still gets me.

New Fandom - Community
I've made two videos, with a third and fourth in the works.

I've also got two stories in the works, one of which is set in the Flash Forward universe. I'm posting the first bit here. So for my fellow Community fans, tell me yeah or nay.

Fic can be found here

No, I wasn't eaten by lions, I didn't run away to the circus, I just got super busy.

RL 1: I'm in the application stage to start midwifery training. Which would happen in Texas. Yes, I've been kind of freaking myself out over that, both with the OMG!Texas! and the YEY!Babies!

RL 2: I have two doula clients that I've taken on in the last month, one of whom is due on the 24th.

RL 3: re:rl 1, I'm going to need $1,000 by June 14th for enrollment fees, books and such, so I've been putting together a blog/web site to let people know what I'm doing and asking them for money.

There is still tinkering that needs to been done (the links page is nothing but dummy text right now) but you can check it out at:

FL 1: I signed up with the Remix/Redux, so I wrote my story for that, but I also filled a pitch hit as well. So two stories written in a week and a half, go me!

Look for an in depth post about that after the archive opens.

FL 2: I'm also taking part in the [ profile] who_rumble icon challenge. So here are some icons from "The Next Doctor" (the first one was my entry for the challenge).

01. 02. 03. 04.

I commented on [ profile] sgarakaki's post, so the chain must continue.

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble/ficlet of any pairing/character in any situation of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level.

So give me a character/pairing and a situation. You can check out my fandom list for inspiration.

One of my wip is the next Guy Group story.

Right now I have four guys, but I'd like it to be a larger meeting. So I am taking nominations of in the category of: "Oh my god! You killed..."

So far the guys involved are:
Charles Tucker III aka Trip
Hogan Washburn aka Wash
Ianto Jones aka Sad tea boy
Scott Summers aka Cyclops

I'm open to any genre, just as long as the guy had a death that was really heart breaking.

One more story done!

I've also been really looking at the ones remaining, and I think there are some that it's just time to give up on. They never had fully formed plots/ideas and there was nothing ever posted from them. but I don't know...

Tell me what you think, oh mighty F-List. Should they stay or should they go?

Fanny & Tom - A Mansfield Park AU. After being nursed back to health by Fanny, Tom develops tender feelings towards her.

Pride United vs. Prejudice - A Pride and Prejudice retelling. Lizzy Bennet is a quick witted soccer referee and Wil Darcy is a soccer coach looking to build his club. An over heard comment starts them off on bad footing, and every coach will tell you, never piss of the ref.

A Muse is a Terrible Thing to Waste - My '05 NaNo attempt. Cecelia is a Nymph who is in training to become a muse. But thing take a turn for the worse when the human she's paired with goes on a mad writing rampage and nearly drives Cecelia to madness trying to keep up.

Scenes From a Grassy Knoll - My '06 NaNo attempt. In the small community that is state level 4-H, a young girl grows up and falls in love for the first time. But what happens several years later when she's brought back in contact with that group and the boy who broke her heart?

A few months ago Wil Wheaton blogged about a cool book he found called "Shatnerquake". Bill Shatner has to battle every character he's ever played.

Well, today the author is holding a one day give away. All he asks is that once you've read it, to post a review - at Amazon, or your blog, or whatever review site you may know.

Go to the author's blog to download it.

Another day, another story finished. Go me.

Of course I haven't broken 1,000 yet, but I am still hopeful. After all, I do have the rest of "Tell Me of Your Yesterdays" to take on.

5. How many stories have you written? 32

6. Which story of yours would you recommend for people to read? The Guy Group stories, just 'cus there's sure to be something for everyone.

7. Which story are you most proud of? "Unbreak My Heart" since it we the first multi-chapter story I ever finished.

8. Which one was your biggest challenge? "Tell Me of Your Yesterdays" just because of the sheer vastness of the canon work I'm trying to tie together.

9. Which one had the most reviews? "Somewhere Not Over the Rainbow"

10. Which had the least? "Watching Life Go By", "Protein", "Men in Tight Leather", "Currents and Curates" and "At Times" all have NO reviews :(

11. Which story do you feel deserved the most reviews? "Watching Life Go By". With "Torchwood" people tend to think more about Sexy!Jack instead of the man who had to sit back and watch the younger parts of his life play out.

12. Which story was your longest? "Tell Me of Your Yesterdays" at 11,918!

13. Which story was your shortest? "A Good Day" 126.

14. Which story was a surprise hit? "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" has had 90 hits. Honestly I thought I was just writing that fandom for myself.

15. What story are you most known for? Depends on the fandom. "Unbreak My Heart" for the X-Men crowd, "Somewhere Not Over the Rainbow" aka Dancing!Cain for the Tin Man crowd.

16. What fandom are you most known for? Tin Man

18. What is something you will never put into your story? Rape, Incest, Slash

19. What do you think your trademark is? On one hand I would say Introspection, on the other hand it would be Crack!Fic

20. Give us a hint of future stories! "And All the Days There After" - Someone finds a pair of Sliver Slippers, a Princess goes missing and a Tin Man ends up on the Other Side. Also, there's a bar called "Poppyfields".

Random Fact: "Wine, Women and Song" got me an interview on "The Art Show" which airs on BBC Soctland Radio.

More time wasting from me. A NaNo wallpaper. I made it for my comp, which I have set to 1280x720, but if you want one let me know the size you need and I'll pop it out.

Also, I have the Saturdays marked 'cus that's when the area Write-Ins are, so if you want one let me know what days you want marked.

Okay, I didn't like the way the side bar looked when it was that big, so I change it a bit. Also I marked the 10, 20, 30, 40 & 50 thousand days (if you are writing 1,667 words a day).

How do you define angst?

Last week while I was hit with an angst muse, then on Thursday [profile] addie_logan did a wonderful meta on the topic. This morning someone said they liked the angst that was in "Raise A Little Cain" and that kind of blew me away. I would say that little!Cain was crack!fic, I would say it was comady, heck I might even say it was fluff, but angst? Never!!!

Out of all of my stories there is only one that I would say has angst.
"Whiskey Lullabye" deals with DG going to a completly dark place, to the point that she kills herself. To me that is angst.

"Angel Eyes" could fall under my idea of angst. Here's a girl who is still in love a year after finding out she was just being used. But she also trying to get on with her life.

I guess to sum it up in simple terms, something that makes me cry would be angst. I cried over [profile] moony_blue's "Beautiful Disaster", but I didn't cry over her "Ballade Collection" evern though there were sad parts. I cried over Jo March's "Exit Strategy", but I loved her "Winning Strategy" even though there were low parts. I cried while I was writing "Whiskey Lullabye", but I never cried for "Angel Eyes", "A Year and A Day", or "Tango" none of which have a "happy" end.

So, what does angst mean to you?
nestar: (Default)
Okay, so Adela means "noble". After much time wasting I can't find anything that Azk  or Az could mean. So I'm making it up. Going with the A to Z idea I'm saying that Azkadllia means "all that is noble"

And yes, it's a throw away line and I could have skipped the research and spent those 30 minutes writing, but... :P
