My knee socks are tying to kill me.

I've frogged these things three times and I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Maybe I'll go make a wash cloth instead.
nestar: (Brain Loading)
After talking with my course coordinator and several other students, and a LOT of praying, I think my best course of action is to switch over to independent study. This will give me more time to finish the course work, but I will change from a Texas Agency candidate to a Portfolio-Evaluated-Process (or PEP) student in regards to the NARM exam (the big exam that gets you the final licensing approval).

So more work on the practical side but more time to do it; while getting less stress on the educational side - I'd call that a fair trade.

It also means that the restrictions fora preceptor are loosened, so I'm going to start calling midwives I may have had to pass over before.
nestar: (Spaceworm)
I finally heard back from the midwifery practice that I interviewed with.

I'm in!

So this means that I'll be moving to Houston in a few weeks. I have dozens of little details swirling through my brain. I have to get the cruse control fixed on the car, will I really need to bring my thick winter coat, should I try and get my yearly check ups done before I go or should I find a new doctor down there and do it in the fall? I need to get boxes.

Yeah, so that's my new crazy.

Holy cow you guys, my time in the 'shire is almost up!!! I'm sitting here making plans for my trip home NEXT WEEKEND!!!

Possible Plan 1: I leave Concord next Saturday morning, head down to Boston and have lunch there, maybe play tourist, then continue on to Mystic and hang out with my Cus.

OR

Possible Plan 2: I become so excited to see my family I leave early Saturday morning and drive straight home - making the five hour trip in only three hours.

All U.S. Internet Providers will be policing downloads by July 12, 2012

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

Okay, I am now starting to really freak out about the upcoming exam. I still have two and a half lessons to finish (by Friday) and stupid me - I looked at the review lesson.

I don't have to do it, but if I do I'll get 5 points towards the exam - which I might need. Right now my biggest freak out is the fact that spell has always been my weak point and what if I can't spell the words I need for the test?

Day 01 - What is your current favorite ship?
Day 02 - What was your very first ship?
Day 03 - A pairing that needs to happen now?
Day 04 - The pairing with the most chemistry?
Day 05 - The pairing with the least chemistry?
Day 06 - Best kiss?
Day 07 - The most heartbreaking scene?

Day 08 - The pairing with the most baggage?
Robin/Barney “How I Met Your Mother”

Where to start? They both have massive daddy issues. Robin's spring from not living up to her father's (impossible) standards, while Barney is dealing with not having that presence at all.

Robin struggles with her self-image – she feels guilty that she has no interest in a babies or a husband or whatever else she's told herself is what a woman should want.

Barney has a massive fear of abandonment – his father left him when he was small, then the girl he was in love with stomped on his poor, hippy, heart (Think about it, if Shannon hadn't been a bitch then Barney = Marshall. Mind blown, right?)

I think the reason that Barney/Robin failed as a couple the first time around was that they were trying to fit themselves into the mold of what they thought a “real, normal” couple should be (I love Lily, but the whole “you have to define the relationship” thing was the beginning of the end, IMHO ). I really think that they will end up together, but no matter how much they grow it won't be in a traditional way.

I was cleaning up some files on my laptop and found this spoken word/song that I have no clue what it is or where it came from, so I'm hoping that maybe someone out there knows.

The file is titled, "Unknown Soldier" - Listen to it here.

Cut for some really odd lyrics... )

DON DRUMM
Observer-Dispatch

UTICA, OCT. 1, 2010 — A small audience attending the debut of The Players of Utica comedy “In Person” was pleasantly surprised to find celebrated actress Meryl Streep in the leading role in place of local thespian Tredda Bords.

The perennial Oscar nominee, not currently making a film, explained that she cut her teeth on community theater and was eager to get back to her roots. But what should have been a sellout, with terrific publicity for The Players, was stymied because Streep insisted her performance not be revealed in advance.

“Publicizing it would have helped us at the box office, but we wanted to respect Meryl’s wishes,” explained director Everett Stageleft.

If this fictitious account sounds familiar, it’s just about what happened Tuesday night at Utica-Rome Speedway, when NASCAR star Tony Stewart snuck in under cover of dust and competed in a sprint car race.

RL 1: I'm in the application stage to start midwifery training. Which would happen in Texas. Yes, I've been kind of freaking myself out over that, both with the OMG!Texas! and the YEY!Babies!

RL 2: I have two doula clients that I've taken on in the last month, one of whom is due on the 24th.

RL 3: re:rl 1, I'm going to need $1,000 by June 14th for enrollment fees, books and such, so I've been putting together a blog/web site to let people know what I'm doing and asking them for money.

There is still tinkering that needs to been done (the links page is nothing but dummy text right now) but you can check it out at: www.yankee-midwife.co.cc

FL 1: I signed up with the Remix/Redux, so I wrote my story for that, but I also filled a pitch hit as well. So two stories written in a week and a half, go me!

Look for an in depth post about that after the archive opens.

FL 2: I'm also taking part in the [livejournal.com profile] who_rumble icon challenge. So here are some icons from "The Next Doctor" (the first one was my entry for the challenge).

Some time around two this morning my right nostril filled with snot, so I couldn't breath while I slept. It is now running like a faucet, I've gone through two big handkerchiefs and a quarter of a box of Puffs so far.

My mom made chocolate chip pancakes (yey!!!) and bacon. About four months ago my body decided it didn't like the smell of bacon, so I've been hiding in my room for hours trying to stay away from the smell.

My dad's computer has the AntiVirus2009 virus on it, so I have several hours of tech work ahead of me, joy.

But while I'm waiting for all the different scans to run, I've learned about half of my lines, go me!

Love me, love my egg...
Adopt one today!

This is something I've been working over in my mind for almost two weeks now: I'm an adult.

Yes, I've held this status for awhile, but when your mom and her friend openly talk about sex in front of you (and not talking to you about sex, but just daily husband/wife type relations) you know that you've hit a high mark.

Like I said, two weeks ago me, my mom, and her friend go to see "Dreamgirls" (good movie) and on the way there mom and friend start talking about some other woman they both know who's been struggling with depression. The next thing I hear is "She said that Jim (woman's husband) has never been a really sensitive lover". They're going on about the fact that sex isn't like in the movies, and things in a guys life can affect sex, and as a guy gets older sex becomes less important, and I'm trying not to pass out in the backseat.

I thought I'd done all the 'adult check points", but this... this I was sooooooo not ready for.

And in the meantime, I'm cranky because I can't login to my favorite web forum. Firthness did some major revamping over the holidays and ever since I've been going nuts. First I could only login when I used Internet Explorer, then I could use Firefox, now I can't login at all!

GHAAA! Okay, I'm typing this and hear a loud boom from downstairs. my Mom got home and turned on the TV and the TV fell off the shelf. She's okay, how she managed to not get squashed by the thing I don't know, but the TV now has a red haze over the picture. And that's pretty much par for the course this week.

Saturday I got a letter from the village saying that I can't run a business out of my home. I have what, three girls come over for ballet lessons? But, if I don't charge a fee, then I can do whatever I want in my house.

Okay, lets end this post on an upbeat note, JenWilson is an amazing fanfic writer I came across two years ago on the Josh&Donna (West Wing) list. The other day I suddenly had this craving to reread one of her stories. You can read her stuff at http://jensfanfic.com/

Doogie Thought: Sometimes it takes a TV being dropped into your life to find out what's really important.
